I have been shoping around looking at resorts and hotels I was wondering if there was a "cheaper" time to book a vacation? Any usefull websites. I dont think I want to go through a travel agency if I didnt have to.

Usually off season is end of August thru mid November. Check American Airlines website and Travelocity for specials as time gets closer.
