Private rooms in hostels can often be cleaner and more welcoming than some of the gross cheap hotels that look nice online. Check out http://www.hostels.com and http://www.hostelbookers.com for what’s available and prices. For flights, depends on where you’re coming from! Within Europe, Ryanair and EasyJet are usually your best bets. From elsewhere, http://www.kayak.com is a good site for finding reasonable airfares, but keep in mind that with the increase in gas prices, air travel is quite expensive.
