What is a cheap hotel, about $50 a night, in Mexico in the Rivera Maya?

My boyfriend and I want to visit Mexico this summer for a week in late July early August, and we need a cheap hotel for about $50 a night, but nothing dirty or unbearable, just something livable and maybe even relaxing for a week, any recommendations??? Anything would be helpful! Thank You

Walk up rates in that area are quite expensive. I would book a package and then some of the high end places go for that price. Cancun`s strip hotels would be out of the question if you are busing or driving. In Cancun 50 usd would get you a reasonably clean an d safe place close to the beach but close to downtown as well

Expensive. The hotel rates in Riviera Maya now starts from around $88.

You probably wont find anything on the beach for that price, but there are plenty of hotels downtown that are clean and comfortable, some with pools. The beach would be just a 10 minute bus ride away.

If you’re looking for hotels that are in the $50 per night price range, I believe you are looking at the wrong destination.
You may be able to easily find something in that price range if you go to Las Vegas, but I seriously doubt you’ll find a decent place for that price in Cancun. (I could be wrong, but I doubt it.)
Cancun is a tourist place. Most tourists have $$, and the hotel industry down there knows this.
My recommendation is that you and your boyfriend save up so that you can splurge a little, and be able to stay at a nice place, such as an all-inclusive resort right on the beach.
As far as looking around for what hotels and resorts are available, take a look at http://www.vacationstogo.com or http://www.bookit.com . Either of these sites will bring up a large list. They’ll display room options, information about what kind of ammenities the hotels have, and they’ll provide non-obligatory price quotes. They can also calculate/include the airfare as well. If nothing else, these sites will provide you with information about what the typical cost would be to vacation down there, and help you with your plans.
